- Daniel Kawczynski MP helped secure £54 million in March 2019 to fund the North West Relief Road (NWRR).
- Constructing the NWRR is desperately needed because it will alleviate congestion and reduce pollution.
- Local business chambers have agreed that constructing the NWRR is essential to secure long-term growth for Shrewsbury’s economy.
- An additional £27.25m is now required to cover the cost of inflation and environmental requirements.
Today, Daniel Kawczynski MP met with Richard Holden MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Roads and Local Transport, to discuss the NWRR.
Daniel stressed the importance of completing this project by explaining what it would mean for Shrewsbury and the rest of Shropshire.
Specifically, Daniel met with the Minister to request assistance with the funding shortfall to complete this project.
The Minister was receptive and assured Daniel that a response would be produced within a fortnight.
