Dear Colleagues,
Happy New Year - complete with a majority Conservative Government!
The CPF have today released the next topic for debate, for which I have attached the link for your delectation, at the bottom of this email.
For all those who consider the whole process something of a political waffle shop for particularly sad people, you are probably right; however, I would also point you to the analysis, below, from Dr John Hayward the CPF Manager at CCHQ.
Dr John Hayward, the CPF manager at CCHQ, has gone through the manifesto with a fine tooth comb and calculated the following:
- 57% of commitments in the Party's manifesto could be traced back to ideas proposed by CPF groups;
- 47% of ideas in the CPF Members' Manifesto were reflected in the published manifesto.
In addition:
- Twelve of the new MPs have been involved with the CPF as Chairman, Voluntary Director, Champions or Group Coordinators;
- At least eight other Conservative candidates had also actively been involved with the CPF.
The topic for discussion is:
The Queen’s Speech
Specifically:
1. What are you pleased to see contained in the Queen’s Speech?
2. Is there anything that a majority of your group were disappointed to see included?
3. Is there anything else that you would have liked to have seen included?
There is also a ‘bonus’ question of:
4. Is there anything you would like to see in the forthcoming budget?
Obviously, to constructively partake in such a forum it will be necessary to have first undertaken the necessary ‘home work’ of reading the attached documents, to see/confirm what was actually in the Queen’s Speech.
Also, as this invite is being circulated to all SACA members, rather than just the usual 20+ that have previously expressed an interest in the CPF, can I ask that you RSVP to the SACA Office, if your intention is to partake? Just to give us a rough idea of numbers.
Kind regards
Colin Jenkins
SACA CPF Group Coordinator
