Lezley has lived in Shropshire for over 20 years and although she was born and raised by the coast, she loves the rurality of Shropshire but is also aware of the challenges that comes with it.
Married with a grown-up son, Lezley was first elected as a Unitary Councillor for the Tern Division in 2017 and was elected as Leader of Shropshire Council on 17th May 2021. Lezley previous served as portfolio holder for Leisure, Waste and Communications, a very broad portfolio which included the likes of the replacement of the Quarry Swimming and Leisure Facility and communications around the matter of Covid-19. Before becoming a Unitary Councillor Lezley worked in the Arts within Local Government, the independent and commercial sectors for over 30 years.
In addition to members of the public being able to raise matters directly with Lezley she also attends every Parish Council Meeting within the Tern Division and has a slot on each agenda where members of the public can raise any issues etc. The six parishes within Tern are Astley, Bicton, Bomere Heath, Uffington, Upton Magna and Withington.
Outside of the Council Lezley is also a Parish Councillor and editor of the local village magazine and can often be seen picking up litter (her pet hate) along country lanes as she walks. A lover of all things sports especially football and cricket she is also a self-confessed animal addict and loves nothing more than exploring the wonderful countryside with her dog, Puck. If you see her out and about, do stop to have a chat.
